So after getting my 3DS and setting it up, I decided to put Pokemon White in, since I have been waiting like 3 weeks to play it.
No before I go any further let me list my Pokemon Credentials, to show I can review this game:
Beat Pokemon Blue
Raised a Jolteon to lvl 100 in Blue without the rare candy code
Beat Gold
Beat Sapphire
Beat Pokemon Colosseum 1 and 2
Played the card game
Watch the series constantly untill they got out of the Orange islands
Now that I have proven my self to the crowd, lets move on to the review.
I knew going into this it was going to be the same as every other pokemon game. Get a pokemon, wander the world, get 8 badges, fight 5 super strong guys, defeat some "Team", save the world, become the Pokemon Master. And so far it is that game.
DifferencesI have noticed from other games. You now have 2 "friends/rivals" one super smart guy and one blonde idiot girl. The guy picks the Pokemon who is strong against what starter you picked, and the girl picks which one is weaker to you. For starters I picked the Water Starter, I forget how to spell his name. Because the starters this time didn't impress me at all, give me a Bulbasaur or a Cyndiquil and I am a happy guy.
So I beat my 'friends" And almost lvl up 2 levels. I was surprised to get Poke-balls right as I left the Home City, so that was cool. And i set out on my quest catching the lame beginning Pokemon just to bolster my ranks. And wandered into the first town, where nothing happened.
I then turned the game off, turned the wireless on and got my Libeerty pass so I can get my Victini later, then I left the first city and rushed off to get my first Gym Badge, Thankfully my Brother had been playing for me and told me to go over to the left to get a monkey since the first Gym leader picks Pokemon stronger to your starter. So I wandered over to the Dream Alley and got my fire monkey, went back to the first gym and set the whole damn thing on fire, after passing some stupid step on the weakness puzzle. Got my first gym badge..Before the Gym I get to go to a Team Plasma Rally for Pokemon freedom, and then fight someone with green hair Called N, both want Pokemon to be free, which goes counter productive against the main theme of the games, "Gotta catch them all".
Now here is where Pokemon gets annoying, they throw in stuff like from the show, TIME FOR A SIDE QUEST, Where I start fighting the new "Team" of lame evil guys, this time Team Plasma is trying to get some dream mist by kicking a Pokemon, wow Nintendo endorses kick defenses animals, good job faking that E rating, anyway I kicked Team Plasma around and caught my own little dream making fluff ball.
So I left the first city and passed the day care, beat up on some preschoolers Pokemon, fought Team Plasma again to save a Pokemon stolen from a little kid, then wandered to the second gym town. Where I learned she used Normal type and there are fighting types in the forest next to the town. SO off to the forest to get a fighting type, which was easy now to the gym!! The gym is in a museum, and then you have to read books and solve riddles, really what happened to walk in and beat the leader..I am not playing this game to learn. Anyway the gym leader kicks my teeth in and I run to the Pokemon Center, heal up..grind then kick her teeth in. Then Team plasma steals a skull and I am off to go do that now.
So whats my take on this game..? Pokemon went down hill once it left Gold/Silver and went to Ruby and Sapphire. I wasn't Impressed with the starters, and all the extra stuff I have no desire to use mostly because playing against other players, you have a 95% shot of finding the 12yr old kid who eat..sleeps..and breaths this game. Yah not doing that. So if you loved and own ever other Pokemon game, this is no real difference and you should enjoy it. I am kinda..but I got it for free so I might as well enjoy it. If anything it's a half decent break from playing nothing but Dragon Age games for 3 weeks.
For those who need a numercial rating, um...lets go with
3.8/5..for being different but being the same.
