Catherine Ending Help..Spoiler Free.. a must read!!!

Catherine has 8 endings- 3 Lovers..3 Cheater..and 2 "Freedom" endings..since I have no clue on the freedom endsing, I am going to help you wit the other six to avoid having to play through the game 6 times..unless you want to..then there is no reason for you to read this.

The Lover and Cheater ending are based upon what side of the "choice" meter is full and 4 questions you answer once your in the 9th area.

How to get all the Lover/Cheater endings in "1 play through"
1. Get your choice meter bar full on either the blue side or the red side and keep it there
2. Play through level 9-1then save your game before doing anything else.
3. Create a new save file one the landing between 9-1 and 9-2
4. Restart your game and load the new file you just greated.
5. Play through the rest of the levels answering the question to get which ending you want (Bad/Normal/True). Not going to tell you which answers get yoiu which ending. Sorry Spolier free and all.
6. Beat the game and watch the end you earned.
7. Re-load your original save file you made in step 2.
8. Repeat steps 3-6 for which ever ending you don't have (Bad/Normal/True)

Then just repeat for the other side of the choice meter. I went with the blue side, so I need to get the other 2 blue endings before going the red side.

All I know about the "freedom endings" s I think the choice bar has to be centered and not favoring a side..I am not sure yet..Any help on that will be greatly appreciated.

I hope this helps everyone out.

Catherine an awesome dream, reality and nightmare

So at first I didn't know anything about Catherine, my brother told me about it and it seemed kinda cool. But my heart truly became set when I played the demo.  Now I have one full play through under my belt, and another 1/3rd run as well. So here is my take on the game, I will try to be as spoiler free as possible..

This game was made by a group of guys called the "Persona Team", they worked on 3, 3 FES, 4, and the remake of 2. As you play you can see their influence on the art, music and play style

You are Vincent a slacker guy dating a girl named Katherine, but you like things how they are zen like..peaceful and still. Katherine wants to move things to the next level by getting married. This of cource freaks you out..so you spend time at the Stray Sheep with your drinking buddies. Untill Catherine sits down next to you at the bar and talks you up. Next thing you know you wake up next to a naked Catherine..

This is you..Vincent..the "hero" of our story.

This is Katherine your current girlfriend.

This is Catherine, the girl you wake up naked next to.

Now this game basically happens in two stages. What happens at the Stray Sheep. Where you can intertact with people in the game to help them solve their problems, send and receive texts to Katherine/Catherine..save your game. Play Raptuzenil which is a arcade version of this game. Listen to music from other Atlus games. And drink, yes drink because the more drunk you are the quick you are in the "Night Mare stages".

The main hunk of the game take place in your Night Mares, and trust me these will cause some nightmares. Basic all you need to do is use blocks to climb to the top of the stage before the bottom falls out. Now these block puzzle are like the ones from Zelda bu on steroids and vicious.  I am not much of  logical thinker or just good at block puzzles.  I got to the 4th stage on Normal setting and I had to restart on Easy mode.  IF you read some articles even the Japanese had issues with block puzzles.
Now after each puzzle you reach a landing where you can interact with other people stuck in the nightmares with you, and your actions will effect them in the real world. You can buy items to help you, and save your game. Once your ready to proceede you go into a confessional, answer a question and move onto the next puzzle. After the puzzles you have to race against a boss monster, which gets you to a door and your nigthmare ends for that night. Trust me these kick my ass..I had to go to youtube to look at how people did it as I got towards the end of the game.

Now these puzzles are scored on a point/coin system, now how do you get them. By climb as fast as you can to get a "step chain" and by collecting coins as you progress. Also you get a bonus when you beat each puzzle called a "safety bonus" time s a multiplexer by what your level difficulty is. You lose coins by buying items at the landings, most of the time you wil just need what you find as your going along.

Now you will die..a lot..that's why when you see a pillow grab it, it allow you to retry when you die..or fall..On Easy and Normal you can undo a block move to try a different way to climb.

The other big mechanic at play is a moral choice system that change based on your interaction with people in the bar and your answers in the confessional. Not going to tell what each side means, you will find that as your play through the game, but where the bar is plays a huge role in cut scenes. Also I have heard the line of dialogue change but since I have only beaten one side of the game I am not sure on this.

Catherine is a fantastic game..the music..the art..and the story pull you in such a way to addict you and wonder what is going to happen next. It' so hard to describe how the blends romance, anime, and horror all at the same time.  All I can really say is that you should go play this game, and if you don't like block puzzles, drop the setting to easy and have you tube opened near by, don't let the puzzle deter you from this game. Go try the demo and look at some vids.

A look at the Love Is over Catherine deluxe box set

So spent the exrta 20$ and got my self the Catherine Love is Over box set. Lets take a look:

When you first get it you are welcomed by some fan service right away off the bat. Grat way to start.

Slide the cover off and what you see is a pizza box from the Stray Sheep, the bar and main hang out in the game.

DO not adjust your set, yes these are pink poka dot boxers. The main character spend the "Nightmare" parts of the game running around in just these while holding onto a pillow. These are size large.

Yes this is a rip off of another franchise..kinda. Anyway this shirt fits into the feel of the game, and one of the main characters "love" intrests can be seen wearing this shirt. Size Large, but fits like an XL retro logo tee you get from target.

In a game that takes place while the main character is asleep and he spends that running around with a pillow, a fan service pillow case is included to hold tight to your self as you dream..or play the game.

Altus is always good about giving away art books and soundtracks, this art book shows some image of the main players and talks a little about how it all happened, and mentions at a new game. You get this wither buying the normal of deluxe set.

Included with the art book is a remix soundtrack, no this is not the OST, this is remixs of classical music by Bach, Mozart, Handel. Fantastic listen.

Oh yah can't forget the game..lol.

Once again Atlus comes through with a unique wacky yet very sweet box set. Seriously where else can you get a pair of boxers as a pre-order gift!!??!!  My only complaint is that the boxers are a Large and don't fit to well..Other than that, if you were going to buy this game, just spend the extra 20$ and get this set, if you can still find it..best go check Amazon.

Limbo Demo

So after seeing review on it else where, I picked up the demo for Limbo.

Limbo is a very very dark puzzle game where a brother goes into Limbo to save his kidnapped sister. You need to push and pull things to jump through trees, over water, just to make a path.

The controls are very simple..jump..skip..action button. But your jump is small because well your a kid, so you need to pull a block out to jump higher..now you will grab onto anything grabable in your reach while you jump.

This game truely is dark, the whole game is in black and shades of gray, the first couple times you die, you'll jump..hell I did..freaked the crap out of me.

Seriously you want a dark scary puzzler, go try Limbo out,,dig on it more..then buy it.

A movie based off a game that is based off a movie that is based off a game

This one is more rage inspired due to seeing commercials about the new "Tekken" dvd.

Why is it that HOLLYWOOD desires to make movies based off of video games..or why do gamer developers want to make games based off of movies.  Well to answer the second question, is because most movie based games are all the new Marvel/DC super hero which are aimed towards middle schoolers and younger, yes adults go to them for more like Nostalgia. But little kids..have parents with big open wallets, "MOMMY MOMMY I WANT THE NEW IRON MAN GAME BECAUSE I AM IRON MAN!!!!!". Games becoming movies, I guess they think, "well if the love the game..they will love the movie..? Right >.>  <.<..?", or it was made by some crazed fan who became a director..and thought it would be a good idea.

Now all of these would be a good idea expect they are all horrible, seriously they games based off of movies only have the character and the final boss in common with the movie, the rest is just a normal game, plus it's so rushed..muti-platformed that the game is just a bad game, that ends up quicker in the clearance bargin bin quicker than anything else.

Movie based off of games are the same way..Seriously look at the Street Fight with Jean Claude Van Dam, do I really need to talk about how the plot was horrible in that game and who it stuck almost not at all to the game franchise..? The only reason I watch it is because Raul Julia as a crazy mother fucker is just awesome. I have only seen the commercials for the Tekken movie..but I can almost guarantee that the same is true. Seriously both of these movies would of been better with out the game associated with them.

Expection to this rule would be the Resident Evil series, I haven't played the games but they seem like they are a decent cross over, i know this from people who have talked to me about it and they agree more or less.  But weither it's true or not..I heard the Directors kids actually play the games and tell daddy how to make them better.

Now before people ask and say, "What about the Scott Pilgrim Game!!??!", first off it is pretty close to the movie in a streets of rage style game, but it's based off the Manga but not the movie..

If i wanted to play a game that is a movie..I'll go play Xenosaga or a Metal gear Solid..

What games like movies do you enjoy..?

Vegas after the Fallout

So on a tip from my friend Pixie and her husband I picked up the Shooting RPG Fall Out New Vegas, mostly because it was on sale on Steam. Yes I know I am late to the game on playing the Fall Out Series..but I am slow in embracing RPG change..

This is more RPG than Mass Effect but it's nor a pure like a Final Fantasy. But it is the most RPG shooter I have ever played.

You start off resetting your stats: Strengh, IQ, Agaility..your basic around stats. Than you pick your "perks" which are like your Traits and Skills from D&D.

Depending on how you want to build your character: Up Close Brawler, one handed gun user. Also that favor the different weapons types: 1 handed, 2 handed, Energy, Knuckles, bat like weapons.

So you wander around a huge desert making your way towards "New Vegas", doing quests for everyone..using find an items or blow the shit out of people. There are factions that you be friend or piss the fuck off. Be friend them and you get free stuff, piss someone off and you'll be shot..alot...

I'm not sure how far I am into the game, but I am enjoying it so far.

Current problems with the game stem form playing it on Steam. The Launcher program likes to freeze up alot..and sometimes the game will freeze from Steam processor over draw. So I am kinda mad that I didn't spend 5$ more to grab it on a disk..but it is what it is. I am enjoying a fun game despite issues sometime when loading it.

Steam Powered Gaming

So thanks to the guys over at Team Four Star I got turned on to Left 4 Dead 2. And since I don;t have an X-box, I saw that the game was for sale on Steam, so I rushed over there and picked it up.

Now I don't do well with mice and keyboard, console for life, so thanks to my brother he showed me Motion Joy, which is a program that makes me PS3 controller an X-box controller, a little tweaking and I am off killing Zombies and doing pretty well at it.

Later came Team Fortress 2 being free to play forever, just extra for special weapons/armor/swag..so I grabbed and tried that out, once again I was doing pretty good with a console vs mouse and keyboard, I mean I was getting shot by the more experience guys but it was still a ton of fun..can't wait to get back to it.

Now during June/July Steam had summer sale..Which they has all of the Sam and Max series on sale..seriously you want goofy story's with crazy characters..a point and click adventure..serious go pick up Sam and Max.

Another sale I caught which I am happy and pissed about was on a tip from Pixie and her Husband, I picked up Fall Out New Vegas for 15$. it wasn't untill a week ago that I noticed I could of gotten it on the PS3 for like 20$..I'm happy with it, and I'll write about it later. IfI had known that I would of gotten it on the PS3 and not a PC..but I got my controller mod so I am happy about it.

Problem with Steam, seems to be the same problem everyone has with Steam. If the Processor draw..it takes a lot of resources just to run, and sometimes cause my laptop to freeze. It also causes my system to over heat a lot..Seriously Steam needs to work on the processor/resources draw fixed..

Seriously you dig PC gaming..go pick up Steam and look around and pick up some games. Even if your not good with PC gaming..grab Motion Joy and rock out some control games.

dynasty warrior gundam 3 look at 45 hours in

SO while I was out wearing my inFamous 2 bag, i went to pick up dynasty warrior gundam 3 or DWG3.

SO as anyone who has played the DW series, you know 45 hours in isn't alot, but it's enough to write some kind of review/take on it.

So this continues from DWG2, but with alot imporvements, most in the suit selections.
Suits from
Gundam Unicorn
0083: Star Dust Memory
Gundam X
00 Gundam

They have also added some suit from other series, the most desired was more suit from Gundam Wing with the addition of Death Scythe Hell, Heavy Arms Kai and the Tallgease 2. There are some DLC suits out there but they have come yet all of them expect 1 are the other main suits from 00 Gundam, the other is from Unicorn Gundam. Or just look here for your self Featured_Mobile_Suits_and_Series

Other upgrades include what you call "partner strikes", You hit R2, in my case as a PS3 user, to summon a set partner who does a special attack unique to them or their suit. You can also have "operators" who just provide some color commentary as to whats going on, or some catchy lines they used in their series.

They story line is no big deal, it never really is in these games..they all get pulled to some alternate dimensions..and have to fight to get back, seriously who really pays attention to the story in a DWG game..?  Expect you can only play as certain characters for the story set. Now their are missions called "Story missions" where you can re-live some of the big battles from all different Gundams, now that is kinda cool because they stay pretty true to what happened in the show, lines and location wise.

Now when you get blown up that isn't game over..well not really. There now is a battle bar that gets eaten way every time either you or your team mates re-spawn, it all goes away if your HQ gets captured. Once the bar is deleted and then you blow up, game over. But that's also how you win, capture fields..captured important points( catapults, enemy HQ..etc etc) then blow up the bad guy leader and you win. The bar also carry's over to story mode so don't worry about getting blown up and pissing everyone off right away.

The tweaked the upgrade system, you find blue prints that upgrade your suit as a whole, not one part at a time, so you don't have to upgrade parts and rush into battle under powered, and each blue print has a un set number of upgrade points to powered up all of your stats, also skills can be added to your suit. Go faster, better melee better shot. Like that.

Online hasn't changed much, there are 15 missions that don't get very hard since up to 4 people can be in on it, so whats would take you like 15mins alone is over in 45 seconds. Now why play online then two reasons beside teaming up wiht your friends who butt kicking. 1. there are 4 trophies/achievements tied into one playing the other is that playing online gets you money very very quickly. And trust me you will need alot of money.

One of the biggest improvements from DWG 2 in the "friendship" scale, anyone who played DWG 2 remeber that hated friendship meter that went up and down more than a bad heart monitor. Well our pain crys have been heard and it has been totally revamped. Now there is just 5 levels to everyone and they can't go down.
Friend ship lvl break down:
1: nothing happens really
2. Can be selected as a partner
3. Can be selected as a pilot/playable character
4. Their character specific suit gets a special upgrade, usually just special attacks are stronger but the names are alot cooler and fit the suit
5. Number of Partner strikes increases by 1 and they can be selected as an operator and they became a Newtype and can use Newtype specific suits, usually suits from the  UC Gundam Story(AKA the Original) from that have funnels/bits.

Now there are characters that just become operators, that those that don't pilot suits like Reelina from Gundam Wing and Raine from G Gundam.

The only annoying part is you want to trophy grind, be prepared to drop easily over 100hours into this games, alot of missions to unlock require you to fly around in the crappy Mass Production suits, that noone plays as.  The other thing is when looking at the trophy list and it says "do this many plays", it doesn't mean select story or online mode alot..it means by how many missions you have done in each mode. I would go more into missions but the rest are pretty straight forward. Fly here..blow up this guy..

In all, if you liked playing the two before this one, you will love this one even more. I would just do all the online stuff as soon as you can before people move on to something else so you can get all the trophies.

inFamous 2 bag street test

SO I should of written this forever ago, but I got caught up in DWG3 and sank into that.

The bag is more designed for walking around window shopping..maybe going on a trail. Because it doesn't hold much, bottle of water and a few snack bars. The phone pounch thing on the strap doesn't fit a mondern smart phone, only your basic flip phone. SO I used it to hold my bus pass for easy quick access to it. It's more stylish than functional is the basic idea of it.

So I was at game stop picking up DWG 3, and the GameStop guy didn't even notice the bag, this made me sad. Seriously if your going to work at a gaming store, know about games..

Anyway the bag is great, and I can't wait to use it again.

Diving in the game

The hardest part of being a gamer with a gaming blog is that at least for me, I get swept up in the game, and I forget that I have this blog and never update it..

So I apologize to anyone who reads this...Now time for a mass of postings
