dynasty warrior gundam 3 look at 45 hours in

SO while I was out wearing my inFamous 2 bag, i went to pick up dynasty warrior gundam 3 or DWG3.

SO as anyone who has played the DW series, you know 45 hours in isn't alot, but it's enough to write some kind of review/take on it.

So this continues from DWG2, but with alot imporvements, most in the suit selections.
Suits from
Gundam Unicorn
0083: Star Dust Memory
Gundam X
00 Gundam

They have also added some suit from other series, the most desired was more suit from Gundam Wing with the addition of Death Scythe Hell, Heavy Arms Kai and the Tallgease 2. There are some DLC suits out there but they have come yet all of them expect 1 are the other main suits from 00 Gundam, the other is from Unicorn Gundam. Or just look here for your self Featured_Mobile_Suits_and_Series

Other upgrades include what you call "partner strikes", You hit R2, in my case as a PS3 user, to summon a set partner who does a special attack unique to them or their suit. You can also have "operators" who just provide some color commentary as to whats going on, or some catchy lines they used in their series.

They story line is no big deal, it never really is in these games..they all get pulled to some alternate dimensions..and have to fight to get back, seriously who really pays attention to the story in a DWG game..?  Expect you can only play as certain characters for the story set. Now their are missions called "Story missions" where you can re-live some of the big battles from all different Gundams, now that is kinda cool because they stay pretty true to what happened in the show, lines and location wise.

Now when you get blown up that isn't game over..well not really. There now is a battle bar that gets eaten way every time either you or your team mates re-spawn, it all goes away if your HQ gets captured. Once the bar is deleted and then you blow up, game over. But that's also how you win, capture fields..captured important points( catapults, enemy HQ..etc etc) then blow up the bad guy leader and you win. The bar also carry's over to story mode so don't worry about getting blown up and pissing everyone off right away.

The tweaked the upgrade system, you find blue prints that upgrade your suit as a whole, not one part at a time, so you don't have to upgrade parts and rush into battle under powered, and each blue print has a un set number of upgrade points to powered up all of your stats, also skills can be added to your suit. Go faster, better melee better shot. Like that.

Online hasn't changed much, there are 15 missions that don't get very hard since up to 4 people can be in on it, so whats would take you like 15mins alone is over in 45 seconds. Now why play online then two reasons beside teaming up wiht your friends who butt kicking. 1. there are 4 trophies/achievements tied into one playing the other is that playing online gets you money very very quickly. And trust me you will need alot of money.

One of the biggest improvements from DWG 2 in the "friendship" scale, anyone who played DWG 2 remeber that hated friendship meter that went up and down more than a bad heart monitor. Well our pain crys have been heard and it has been totally revamped. Now there is just 5 levels to everyone and they can't go down.
Friend ship lvl break down:
1: nothing happens really
2. Can be selected as a partner
3. Can be selected as a pilot/playable character
4. Their character specific suit gets a special upgrade, usually just special attacks are stronger but the names are alot cooler and fit the suit
5. Number of Partner strikes increases by 1 and they can be selected as an operator and they became a Newtype and can use Newtype specific suits, usually suits from the  UC Gundam Story(AKA the Original) from that have funnels/bits.

Now there are characters that just become operators, that those that don't pilot suits like Reelina from Gundam Wing and Raine from G Gundam.

The only annoying part is you want to trophy grind, be prepared to drop easily over 100hours into this games, alot of missions to unlock require you to fly around in the crappy Mass Production suits, that noone plays as.  The other thing is when looking at the trophy list and it says "do this many plays", it doesn't mean select story or online mode alot..it means by how many missions you have done in each mode. I would go more into missions but the rest are pretty straight forward. Fly here..blow up this guy..

In all, if you liked playing the two before this one, you will love this one even more. I would just do all the online stuff as soon as you can before people move on to something else so you can get all the trophies.
